We provide testing for urine, stool, blood, digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood pressure testing and monitoring, ECG readings and more.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasounds can be used in veterinary medicine to help us visualize internal organs clearly and provide more insight into your pet’s overall health status. Ultrasonography can be used to further examine conditions of the heart, liver, gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, bladder, intestines, as well as detect fluid, tumors and much more! It can also help us determine pregnancies and evaluate fetal health. Railtown Animal Clinic has a brand-new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine with high resolution monitor and 4D image enhancement.
Nutrition Consultation
Good nutrition is one of the most important factors to prevent against future disease in our pets. Our veterinarians and tech team have been trained and continue to stay up to date on current nutritional recommendations. Allergies, weight loss, irritable bowel, you name it we have a food recommendation for you! We can help you every step of the way from calculating calories and formulating a plan that will work for both you and your pet!

We provide routine surgeries such as spays and neuters as well as elective soft tissue, mass removal and oral surgery for cats, dogs, and exotic pets. Other surgeries offered include acute injury/laceration repairs, exploratory laparotomies, splenectomies, cystotomies, c-sections, GDV (twisted stomach surgery) & preventative stomach tacking surgeries for large breed/deep chested dogs. If the surgery is out of our hands, we will make recommendations and referrals as needed.
Dentistry
Brushing your pet’s teeth may be easier said than done – we get it! Some animals need preventative dental cleanings yearly to help retain their teeth and keep their bodies healthy. We offer dental procedures for cats, dogs, hamsters, and rabbits. With a beautiful dental suite in our hospital, we can accommodate multiple Complete Oral Health Assessment and Treatments (COHAT) per day. We are outfitted with brand new dental equipment and a dental x-ray machine to help us determine any under the gum issues like tooth root abscesses in dogs or feline resorptive lesions in cats. All our dentals (COHATs) are performed under general anesthesia to avoid any pain or discomfort allowing us to scale all teeth above and below the gumlines as well as polish and extract any teeth that are causing issues.
End of life care
Saying goodbye is never easy, your pet is your best friend, your family member, your teammate. At Railtown Animal Clinic we know how difficult this process may be for you and we are here to support you when trying to make the very difficult quality-of-life decisions. We are teamed up with a local crematorium service to provide all your end-of-life needs. Please call us if you have any questions regarding this difficult time of your life.
Microchipping
Imagine your animal has been lost, he can’t call you at home, he has no way of contacting you, and he lost his collar. Microchipping is a way to make sure you are reconnected with your family member just in case he was to ever jump the fence or get loose. A microchip is a small, numbered chip the size of a rice grain that goes under an animal’s skin (usually between the shoulder blades). Your animal can be scanned to find your contact information if ever lost and brought to any vet clinic or rescue facility! We provide microchipping at any appointment but recommend having your animal microchipped during the spay or neuter surgery.
Digital Imaging
X-rays are a tool used by our team to help us diagnose and provide more insight if your animal is unwell. Radiographs can help us find heart disease, cancers, bladder stones, bone abnormalities, arthritis and more! X-rays are also useful for pre breeding OFA testing to rule out hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as post breeding health status such as counting the number of puppies you might find yourself parenting next month!
Emergency Care
Is your pet displaying behavior you think is concerning? Give us a call and we will help answer any questions as well as give you advice regarding the nature of the emergency. We provide after hours services to ensure your pet will be taken care of any time of day!
